Welcome to Sonic: Lock & Load!

Sonic: Lock & Load title screen

DOOM II IWAD required. You can buy DOOM II on Steam or GOG or use Freedoom: Phase 2.

Sonic: Lock & Load is a hyper-fast stylish action first-person shooter based on the Sonic the Hedgehog series of games and built on GZDoom.

It's heavily inspired by the high-speed platforming of Sonic Robo Blast 2, the heavily movement-based FPS gameplay of ULTRAKILL and the stylish action of Devil May Cry.

The current version of Sonic: Lock & Load is v1.4 "Horizons", part of Season 1: Chaos. See the versions page for a detailed log of each season and version.

Sonic: Lock & Load turns 4 in February 2024! Read about the game's history up until v1.4 "Horizons".

Author & Support

Sonic: Lock & Load is a solo project by Arsalan "Aeria" Kazmi, released as free software under the GNU General Public License v3, and you can view the source code at GitHub.

If you thought there was a team behind this or something, then, uh... no. Just me.

Sonic: Lock & Load is very much still in its early development stages, despite having come so far. I'm just one guy, and I'm not a miracle worker.

If you want to help with Sonic: Lock & Load, send me a message on Twitter or Sonic Fan Games HQ, and we can work something out. Probably don't reach out on itch.io or Doomworld because I'm never on them nowadays.

I'm currently looking for sprite artists (HUD sprites, weapon sprites, enemy sprites) and level designers, so if you think you can help, feel free to give me a shout.

License

TL;DR: Sonic: Lock & Load is free and open source. You can share it with anyone for free, but you have to stick with the GPL-3.0, and you can't sue me if it breaks.
